Man In 'Blessed' Hoodie Stole From Newark Church: Police

Police in Newark are asking the public;s help identifying the suspects in back-to-back incidents last week.

Around 3:45 a.m. Friday, two men entered the parking lot of Buelah Grove Baptist Church on Springdale Avenue and swiped two cases of water from a church van. One of them later came back to the church, got inside and stole two laptops, a 30-inch smart TV, an Echo dot and food. A female and the person who helped steal the water from the church van met the man who entered the church on the street outside and headed towards Springfield Avenue. 

The man who entered the church is described as having a light complexion with a full gray beard. He was wearing a baseball hat, dark-colored hooded sweater, blue sweat pants with a white stripe at the knee and tan work boots and walks with a limp. 

The female suspect is described as wearing a dark-colored trench coat with a white scarf around her head and was wearing slippers, sweatpants. She was also  carrying a white bag. 

The other male suspect, who helped take the water,  was wearing a baseball hat and a hooded sweater with the word “Blessed” on the back. 

On Thursday, in an unrelated incident, a man entered a home uninvited in the 500 block of North 7th Street around 1 p.m. The resident questioned the man, who fled. 

He is described a light-skinned Hispanic, between 30 and 35 years old. He is approximately 5’7” tall and 180 lbs. and was wearing a black hooded sweater and dark jeans. He was also carrying a blue bag. 

Police provided images of the suspects from surveillance video (attached).
